We still need to do an "official" shoot for the 2008 One Way - so while Kyle and I were waiting around for a turn in the weather we decided to hop on the One Way and the Detour Deluxe and take a tour around Fort Warden. Here just a couple pics from that exploration and a slight peek at what the One Way looks like for 2008. Oh...and yes that is a Brooks Saddle and Brooks Leather tape on the bike - it will come stock with this lovely spec.

Short, but sweet. I will post more pics of this rocking bike when I have a chance. Enjoy!

I want one! Any idea when us general public will be able to get one? I've actually been hesitating on the One Way for the sole reason that I would like Brooks outfitting, and I would have had to upgrade. Now that it comes standard it fits my bill, but I'm looking for sometime this fall. Is that possible?

Ooooh *lust in my eyes* Very good choice on those upgrades! I love the forest green color, too.

You guys still need to fix that rear-facing fork end, though ;-)

Cool bike. I like the canti brakes and the brooks. Very smart. I hope that's not the fender you'll be spec'ing. Not much fun to ride behind that guy. Use the breakaway/plastic SKS clips on the rear dropout and you can use a proper fender and still be able to flip the rear wheel.

I want! Now, fix it up with a Shimano Nexus 8 speed internal rear hub, and you will have a corner on the market for a very useful bike.

Love the comments!

anonymous 1 - the One Way will be available after Interbike which is near the end of Sept.

fritz - we are looking into changing the drop on the rear - it may happen for 2009 but you never know.

john - those are the SKS fenders that are spec'd - I find that even my full SKS fenders kick crap on my commuting partner we had to install flaps so we could ride the Seattle winter together - but the plastic clips are a sure fire additive for horizontal drop outs.

anonymous 2 - it is funny you mention a Nexus 8 hub as the One Way our product designer rides currently is fixed up with a Sturmey Archer - I think I am going to set up my One Way with the Nexus for the winter. Who knows, you may see a version next year.

I feel the compulsion to follow up on the Nexus comment. I am 99% sure that I will be buying this bike as soon as I can get it, and I will be replacing the rear wheel with a Nexus Red Band and Alfine rapid fire shifter. Of course, in the interest of fun I will always keep the SS/FG wheel on hand, but for my normal duty the 8 speed will be nice to have.

If you guys could spec a version with the Nexus I bet it would sell like hotcakes. I, for one, would buy it instead.

That's funny about all the commentary about adding the Nexus hub -- I've also been thinking of changing my wheel out with an internal geared hub.

Carey, I should tell you that my One Way is eyeballed a *lot* on my commute. I come in close contact with at least four dozen bike commuters every day on Caltrain and this bike gets a lot of attention and comments. People really like the look of it.

What kind of bike is the brown one?
Thanks.

The end of September? I'm in such lust, I don't know if I can wait that long.

An internal gear hub would be great, but would a Nexus fit a One Way. Aren't the drop outs too narrow?

I've heard complaints that the rear canti posts on the '07 one-way were set too high, restricting adjustability of the wheel.

Has this been addressed in the '08?

BTW, I think you are doing all the right things for a large market bike co.

Lead, and others will follow.
You are definitely leading with design like this.

mmm ... sexy ...

i toyed around on a one-way a few months back and LOVED it but, it seemed that one would have to take off the fender (or at the very least, completely deflate the tire) to get the rear wheel off because of the horizontal drop-out. also, the lack of a second set of eyelets for a rear rack was a bit disappointing. i usually just have my bag but, during the raining months, i tend to us panniers since i have to bring a change of clothes and different shoes.

i can't quite tell from the photos but, are either of these issues addressed? i seem to remember other posts elsewhere with the same complaints.

Is there a release date yet for the 2008? I'm hoping to get one before a trip up to Pittsburgh in mid-October. I'm on a call list with my LBS.

Looks like it will list for $710 according to Raleigh's PDF from Interbike

Hope I can get my hand on one soon

Love the way this looks. Your comment about "maybe an Nexus 8" makes me think the bike would be perfect!

How can you put rack brazeons on the seatstays, but not the dropouts??

This is a fantastic bike otherways (well, except for the track ends on a fendered bike), but that seems like a large dose of fail to me.
