West Side Story

It has it all.
Rivals...two gangs willing to duke it out to the end in order to claim superiority over the other.
Romance...with a tragic conclusion because that's how all relationships end...tragic (hmmm...bitter?)
Excitement...fight scenes the way people should fight...in dance.

And all this can be seen this weekend in Seattle...performed on the streets. The West Side Invite rolls into town with all the thunder of the Oscar winning performance.

Rivals...duking it out in various events from alleycats, polo, skids, stands, drinking, stinking, eating...all to gain an edge over their opponent.
Romance...come on...a bunch of messengers riding around all goofed up. More than one person will be pulling on their 'regrets' in the morning as they try and sneak out.
Excitement...I could only hope there would be bicycle dance fighting. Something similar to the bicycle dance scene in Rad.

If you're in Seattle this weekend...you're bound to see part of the mayhem rolling around.

Next post...more 2010 Bikes.

2010 Photo Shoot

Has already started (good thing I picked up a camera on my way to the studio) We spent the whole day inside as the weather started crappy and we wanted some studio time for our brand new carbon bike we'll be releasing later this year. I'll do my best to update as the shoot rolls along over the next couple weeks.

So here are some snaps from my memory card...all carbon today.

{Seeing more than double}

Pub Crawl

I was just reminded, by twitter of all things, that Seattle Beer Week starts today at Pikes Brewery.

And just to show how much bikes and beer together...they've included a pub crawl on Saturday. Byron at Bike Hugger posted up a little info on the ride that can be found here.

With the weather finally shaping up to look less moist...I can't think of a finer thing to do on a Saturday afternoon.

April Showers

Bring May Showers.

Four possible days of riding in this much hyped "Ride Your Bike to Work Month".

Day 1
Spent it in my truck...banging my head on the steering wheel. It was beautiful. Alas I had to drive in to pick up a bike and drop it off at a local shop. Bummed

Day 2
Rode in and tempted fate. A storm was percolating but wasn't supposed to pour into Seattle until later in the evening. So I did what anyone would do...I pulled on my Carharts and rode in without fenders. Leaving the Raleigh MotherShip after work I immediately regretted my choices.

*5 minutes into the ride I had water drops building on the brim of my cap
*10 minutes - I could feel the bottom of socks getting wet
*15 minutes - Receiving the 'double team' from up above and below...my Carharts gained 10lbs
*25 minutes - Road grit that built on my saddle and pants starts making an unnerving crunching sound
*35 minutes - I turn down a beer because I still have another 5 miles to get home...does that give ya'll an idea as to how bad it was?
*45 minutes - Is something starting to chafe?!
*52 minutes - I'm standing in a puddle...that I'm creating...in my kitchen

Day 3
50 mph gusts and my shoes were still bloated. The only question crazier to ask me than "did you drive" would be "would you like bacon with that"

The sun came out that afternoon.....(insert expletive here)

Day 4
Glorious fenders...
